Installing Live Picture
The installation program included on these diskettes will install the Live Picture program files and folders in a folder named "Live Picture". The folder will be created on the drive you designate. If you already have a folder named "Live Picture" on the target drive then you should rename it before installing the Live Picture software.
After installation, launch Live Picture. The first time you launch Live Picture you will be prompted to enter your name, company, and serial number. The serial number is printed on two labels: one is on the Program Disk, the other is on the Dongle which connects between the keyboard and your Macintosh®.
Power Macintosh®
All registered users of Live Picture are entitled to the Power Macintosh version which should be available soon. If you would like to receive the Power Macintosh version of Live Picture please make sure that you fill out your registration card indicating that you require this release. By registering your software you are entitled to receive the Power Macintosh version of Live Picture in addition to the standard Macintosh 680x0 version. Please FAX or mail your registration today.
Features not covered in the User Guide
Color Bar. By pressing the space bar when using the color bar you can select an alternative color range. This works in RGB and CMYK color mode. It works for the main color bar, accessible from the creative toolbar and for the small color bars that are available when using gradients, and color correction.
Densitometer in Color Correction. All the color correction modes have a densitometer. The before/after values are shown in RGB or CMYK (depending on which color model is selected and in HSV. The densitometer is accessed by moving the cursor into either the before or after preview window.
Batch conversion of files to IVUE format. Drag multiple files on top of the LP Converter icon to launch a batch conversion. If there is more than one file, a dialog box prompts you to “open all” or “convert all”; choose “convert all”; the Save dialog box asks the name of a folder to be created and gives an option to delete the input (TIFF) file when the corresponding IVUE file is created.
Nudge. When inserting an image or repositioning layer(s) or layer elements, you can "nudge" the selection one screen pixel by pressing an arrow key. Nudge works slightly different when Inserting an Image, and when repositioning. When inserting an image, each click of an arrow key nudges 1 screen pixel. When you click the screen starts to be regenerated. After a few seconds (you'll know when by watching the cursor) you can nudge again. In repositioning, you can nudge up to 20 times and the clicks are stored in a buffer and will be processed together.
Gradients. When using gradients, the initial opacity value field will be selected. Enter a number between 1 and 100 and then press Return to move to the next field. However, if you prefer to use the opacity slider then press Esc and drag out the opacity bar from this field.
Exit from Image Silhouetting. To exit from the Image Silhouetting mode without computing the silhouette press Esc. The entire image will be inserted. You can then delete the layer.
Creating a New Separation Table. When you use the adjust feature when converting a CMYK file to IVUE format you have the option to (1) select an existing separation table to adjust, or (2) create a new separation table. If you use the option to create a new table you will be prompted for the folder and filename information. Remember, this feature is used to analyze and store the separation strategy of the CMYK file and use it to automatically to create a new separation table. Then you can use this separation table for building output images in CMYK (remember it must be setup in the Preferences - RGB to CMYK Table). This guarantees that on output the separations will be similar to the input CMYK file.
ATM. Live Picture works very differently than other image editing programs when it comes to text. Live Picture reads the bezier path information from the font, using what is referred to as "backdoor calls" and then uses this. The advantage is that text remains in path format and can be scaled or modified at any time while retaining full quality. Unfortunately, not all ATM fonts make available their path information. For this reason, not all ATM fonts and styles that are installed on your system will be available in Live Picture.
Screen antialiasing. Remember that when on screen antialiasing of images is turned on using the Preferences the screen rendering is slower. To alert you, if antialiasing is turned on then an alert box is displayed when Live Picture is launched.
New icons. The icons for all Live Picture files have been updated. If you already have Live Picture installed, then to have the new icons you need to rebuild your Macintosh's desktop by holding down the command option keys at startup and answering Yes at the prompt.
Adjust pressure level of mouse. When a Wacom tablet is connected, the pressure of the brush is always equal to the last pressure of the board, even when the user brushes with the mouse. Now you can change the pressure of the mouse using the keyboard numerical values - 1 (minimum) to 0 (maximum).
Change brush size. You can change the brush size from the keyboard. Press “+” to increase size, “-” to decrease it.
